49th District Convention - KERANG

23rd - 25th October 2025

Get ready to go "Back to the 60's"

KERANG is a vibrant regional town located 25 kilometres inland from the Murray River, between Swan Hill and Cohuna. Set within a productive irrigation district, the area supports lucerne, grain and vegetable farming.

The town centre is focused around Wellington and Victoria Streets, marked by a historic memorial clocktower. Nearby, the Lester Smith Lookout Tower—built in 1883—houses the visitor information centre and offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Across the road, the Kerang Historical Museum showcases local heritage, including vintage farm machinery and vehicles.

The Loddon River flows through Kerang, providing popular fishing spots, while the nearby Kerang Wetlands feature more than 50 lakes and lagoons rich in birdlife. Larger lakes such as Kangaroo Lake and Lake Charm are popular for boating, fishing and watersports. Kangaroo Lake is also home to scenic Gorton Drive, lined with jacarandas and citrus orchards, and a vineyard established by Brown Brothers in the 1960s.
